Coming home after a long night…
16 02 2008I just got home.
Much to my surprise, there was someone else walking in the front door of my building as I was walking home. Some guy, clean shaven, clean cut, maybe a few years my senior. I live in one of those schmancy New York buildings that has a doorman and everything. So the doorman let us both in.
We got in the same elevator, and had that awkward hi, we’re strangers in an elevator moment.
So I decided to break the tension.
“Did you have a good night?” I asked?
“Yes. Yourself?”
“Definitely.”
Then he gave me a look, like he was about to start an interrogation.
“What did you do?” He asked.
I paused. to prevent myself from saying, I sat around with a group of women and trans folk as I watched a friend of mine pour wax all over a women’s naked body and then stuck lit candles on her… We all went out for diner food after.
“You know.” I answered “I hung out with some friends around Chelsey, had a few drinks. It was just a good night. You?
“I was down on St. Marks. Sort of a young crowd, but it reminds me of when I was a teenager.”
“That’s cool.” The elevator stopped at my floor. “Well, take care!”
“Yeah. You too.”
This seems to have become a pattern with me. My truth is so much more interesting than my fiction.
